Delivery of the LaLuce Cristallina System

DCA has just delivered a cutting-edge, fully automated 8-inch wafer production system to La Luce Cristallina in Austin, TX USA.

La Luce Cristallina is advancing the frontier of Silicon Photonics by integrating crystalline oxides like Barium Titanate (BTO) to enable high-performance electro-optic modulators – a key technology for future photonic applications including optical interconnects, sensing, and computing.

 

🔬 The system features:

  • Fully automated UHV system with precision robot wafer handling.
  • Dual process chambers for STO (via MBE) and BTO (via UHV sputtering).
  • Rapid cassette sample loading (10×8”) and UHV cassette storage (10×8”).

 

💡 Highlights:

  • MBE Chamber: Equipped with dual e-beam evaporators for STO growth, cooled by an ethanol-based cryo system (-40°C) to reduce LN₂ dependency.
  • Sputtering Chamber: Features dual APEX-L linear magnetrons for uniform BTO deposition.

 

DCA’s production systems are ultra-high vacuum (UHV), high-performance deposition platforms, backed by over 35 years of expertise. They offer fully automated, FAB-compliant solutions featuring EFEM with FOUP loading, and support large single or multi-wafer processing (up to 1×12″ or 3×8″ wafers), delivering market-leading, process-defined capabilities.
